AITS HOLDS CAREER GUIDANCE AND EXHIBITION

Advocacy for Innovation and Technology in Schools (AITS) held a career guidance and exhibition in innovation and technology for school leavers on Thursday, 11 December 2025 at the Members Pavilion in the showgrounds, Lusaka.
The theme was “Empowering Tomorrow: Exploring Careers in Innovation and Technology”.
The guest of honour was Hon. Douglas Syakalima, Minister of Education and in his speech read by Mr Sidney Nalube, Director of Teacher Education and Specialised Services highlighted that the Ministry in its Strategic Plan 2022 – 2026 has aligned its programmes to the Eighth National Development Plan with the aim of Improved Education and Skills Development.
He said this strategy seeks to provide “accessible, inclusive, equitable and quality education that enables individuals to attain their full potential and contribute to national development” as stated in the mission statement.
AITS Executive Director Mr Likezo Nyambe said the purpose of the gathering was to bring together the school leavers, the higher learning institutions and tech companies in order to expose the young people to the various opportunities as they contemplate to pursue careers in innovation and technology.
Crucible Lusaka Founding Principal Mr Vaughan Lewis urged the participants to leverage technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) in order to be efficient in their skills and demonstrate capabilities in a competitive job market. Crucible Lusaka was the main sponsor of the event.


A tour of the exhibition stands was conducted led by Mr Sidney Nalube. This was followed by a demonstration by the Zambia Army unit 81 UAV Regiment which flew the drones to the amusement and excitement of the participants.
A panel of experts discussion was held under the topic “What should students and young people prioritise with the advent of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and robotics: Diving into the prospects and challenges of tomorrow’s job market”.
The panelists were Crucible Lusaka Founding Principal Vaughan Lewis, Anvil Coding Academy Founder & Managing Director Humphrey Mpundu and ICT Association of Zambia (ICTAZ) Council Committee Member for Operations Malita Ng’andu Kabukabu..
